Job Summary: We are seeking a Structural Engineer to provide operational, research and development, training, and subject matter expertise and analyses decision support to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) as part of its Reachback contract. The successful candidate will provide general knowledge and subject matter expertise as a structural engineer.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
The applicant must be a US citizen.
MS degree in structural, design, explosives, demolition or mechanical engineering and at least 0-5 years of experience working within the DoD and/or other CBRNE communities. Candidate must possess a college degree from an accredited US college/university.
Structural engineering experience preferably in design, engineering, vulnerability assessment, and construction of buildings and facilities.
The position requires a team player who can effectively integrate with the current Reachback team and DoD customer, along with having a flexible schedule.
Strong communication skills, both orally and verbally with technical presentation, graphic visualization and Microsoft Office proficiency skills are required.
Ability to conduct independent scientific and technical analyses of collected data with limited supervision.
Applicant selected for this position may start without a clearance but must be able to obtain and maintain at least an active/interim DoD secret clearance. Applicant selected for a security clearance will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirement for access to classified information.
Experience in programs or activities associated with weapon effects, other weapons-of-mass destruction, demolition sciences, geographic information systems and modeling and simulation are desired.
Previous experience in Combating WMD threats in an operational environment, with a willingness to take on new initiatives outside of their specific area of expertise.
Working knowledge and experienced in Vulnerability Assessment tools preferred.
VAPO and IMEA software tools a plus Professional Engineer Certification preferred.
Former military personnel would be a plus.
Duties: Evaluate the technical development of an antiterrorism, vulnerability assessment and protection-planning tool for use by Department of Defense.
Responding to inquiries from government and civilian agencies, as well as liaison with governmental agencies and research organizations.
Perform complex engineering and scientific analyses, conduct special studies.
Prepare scientific reports, technical supports to software engineers, and performs independent verification/validation of CBRNE effects models.
Provide operational CBRNE subject matter expertise support to various CoCOMs and other USG agencies as needed.
Provide technical Reachback 24/7 CBRNE decision support capability and subject matter expertise for planning current operation and post event analysis.
Perform complex engineering and scientific analyses, and assessments for chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological incidents, accidents, events, and military actions.
