Summary: The Eastern New Mexico University Safety Department is seeking applications from qualified student employee(s) for the position of Student Life Safety Inspector. This position will be under the guidance and direction of the Safety Coordinator.

Qualifications: Ideal candidates for this position will be on the ENMU Portales campus during the normal work week, enjoy physical activity, and appreciate the importance of life safety equipment. The candidate must be able to walk throughout all campus buildings, climb stairs, ladders, carry/lift a metal rod, take notes about safety conditions, use visual senses to conduct fire extinguisher inspections, be able to lift small loads(less than 50lbs) and be able to drive a university vehicle if required.

Ideal candidates for this position will enjoy walking and physical activity, be independent, reliable, self-motivated, and trustworthy. Candidates for this position are expected to be in good academic standing with the university.

Duties: Responsibilities include but are not limited to walking throughout university buildings, conducting visual inspections of Life Safety equipment (fire extinguishers, exit and emergency lights, help with operation of lab safety showers, and other duties as assigned). Inspections include walking throughout the campus buildings, including: academic, administrative, dormitory buildings, mechanical rooms, basements, roofs, penthouses, labs, and other areas as needed throughout the day, and noting conditions.
