At University Printing and Duplicating Services we provide alumni, faculty, staff, and students of Eastern the most reasonably priced duplicating, printing, graphic design, and support services possible. Our services are provided in a timely fashion with complete professionalism.
Eastern New Mexico University's rural setting gives our office a unique opportunity to serve, since it is the largest technologically advanced printing facility within a 120 mile radius of Portales. Our services are also available to government agencies, schools, and nonprofit organizations in the area. However, these services will not be at the expense of University work, which always takes priority.
Job Turnaround Time
Duplicating Services processes between 12,000 and 14,000 requests per year, or an average of 250 per week. Most duplicating jobs are turned around in 24 hours. The 24-hour turnaround times do not include jobs requiring stapling, drilling, collating, folding, or binding. These special services add additional time to the process. Certain times of the year jobs may be delayed because of sheer volume. Delays on duplicated material are most likely to occur during mid-term and final exam weeks when our main focus is on tests.
Printing Services processes between 1100 and 1300 printing requests per year, or an average of 23 jobs per week. Printing jobs may vary greatly in complexity.
The average one or two color job printed front and back (500-5000 copies) will usually take about five working days. This includes one day to process the film, strip the film, and burn the plate. One day is necessary to schedule the job into production and cut paper. Two days are needed to print (one side each day). One additional day for drying, folding, or other special operations such as perforating, numbering, scoring, and/or binding. If special paper or ink is ordered for the printed piece additional days may be required.
The average process color (full-color) job printed front and back (500-5000 copies) will take between 7 and 10 working days. This includes one to two days to process the film, strip the film, and burn the plates. One day is required to schedule the piece into production and cut paper, then five to seven days of print production with one day to fold or stitch the piece. Ink drying time is always a factor in print production time. If humidity levels are higher, ink takes longer to dry.
If special processes are needed such as numbering, padding, die cutting, or perfect binding additional days may be required.
