Advising for Success in Teacher Preparation

 

Year 1

  • Organize Future Teacher high school outreach
  • Revise teacher preparation informational materials and strategies for dissemination
  • Organize learning communities for students interested in teacher preparation
  • Organize teams to identify barriers to transfer and program entry
  • Collect baseline data and set data collection protocols

Year 2

  • Monitor activities of Future Teacher organizations and modify as needed
  • Monitor the effectiveness of current advising strategies and modify as needed
  • Identify barriers to transfer and entry to the teacher preparation program
  • Collect data to verify progress in meeting objectives

Year 3

  • Assess effectiveness of advising materials and revise as needed
  • Assess effectiveness of learning communities
  • Incorporate improvements in the new cycle of learning communities and faculty training
  • Review and report on barriers to transfer and program entry and identify strategies for abatement of barriers

Year 4

  • Develop Web-based information about the teacher preparation program. (feeds into Component 1 task on Web access to transfer information)
  • Pilot strategies for removing barriers to transfer and program entry, evaluate and revise
  • Learning communities continue, are evaluated and revised
  • Data collection and analysis continues

Year 5

  • Continue, evaluate and refine all processes developed
  • Collect or update data for all project activities
  • Develop strategies for continuation of productive activities following completion of the project term
