Assessment and Student Outcomes

Eastern New Mexico University's student learning assessments provide us with a wealth of data used to inform decision making. Programs use these data sources to improve our mission of student success. Thus, assessment must contribute not only to those processes by which members of our faculty examine their teaching and student learning, but also to those processes by which we try to improve programs and services.

  • National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)
We use this nationally-normed survey to gauge students' engagement in their learning and to enhance pedagogy, programs and services that address those factors. ENMU students score above the national mean is valuing the faculty-students interaction on campus and in the classroom, NSSE Overview.
  • Education Testing Services Academic Proficiency Profile (PP)
We administer the Proficiency Profile to our freshmen and seniors to assess entering their skills and graduating seniors' general knowledge. Proficiency Profile results show that ENMU students show clear gains in general knowledge between their freshmen and senior years.
  • Satisfaction Surveys
Each semester, we administer a Student Satisfaction Survey to students completing bachelor's or master's programs. Every three years, satisfaction survey data from all the New Mexico four-year universities is published in the Council of University Presidents' Performance Effectiveness Report. ENMU's student scores average above 95% satisfaction with their educational experience and lead the other universities in their levels of "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with their ENMU education. Survey data from the past three years is provided: 2013-142014-15, 2015-16.
  • ENMU's Accountability Report 2016 for the Council of University Presidents reports a broad range of institutional data and has been submitted since 1998.
