Steps to Register for Testing

1. Check the testing calendar prior to registering. If the session is full, you will be notified via email. Each test has limited space. You will only be able to take the test on the date for which you registered.
2. You will not be allowed to retake the full test for 60 days after taking it the first time. No exceptions. If there are no dates on the calendar, those sessions are full.
3. Fill out the Online Prueba de Español Registration Form. You will need to upload a copy of the required course work needed to complete for the Bilingual Endorsement. You will not be allowed to take a test if you have not completed the required course work. 24-36 semester hours in bilingual education. If you have a TESOL endorsement you need at least 6 hours in teaching bilingual education.
4. Send your payment for your registration by credit card, check, money order, or school purchase order by the registration deadline of your chosen test date or call the testing office to request a payment authorization form. The authorization form must be signed by the cardholder and faxed or emailed to the testing office prior to us processing your credit payment.

Admission Letter

Your admission letter will be emailed to the email address given on your registration form one week prior to your test date (if your registration was received by the registration deadline).

• If you do not receive your admission letter one week prior to your test, please call 575.562.2310 or email [email protected], to confirm your registration.
• Please note it is your responsibility to open your correspondence to check your admission letter and confirm your test date, time and location.

Photo Identification

You must present your photo ID with your name and signature at the time you are admitted for the test. You will not be allowed to test without it.

Test Date Change

You must email any request for date changes at least 72 hours prior to your scheduled test date. Email [email protected] (this allows the notice to be received before a date that requires travel). Your test date can only be changed if space is available.

Refund Policy

Email [email protected] with a copy of your receipt.

• The full test fee will be refunded to examinees who give two weeks or more cancellation notice or have an emergency and are unable to test. No shows for testing will not be refunded. You must request a refund 30 days from when you made payment.
• No exceptions to the above refund policy items.

Test Results

Test results will be emailed to you approximately eight weeks after you take your test, via email. You may print as many copies as you like.

Appeals/Grievance Procedures

For appeals related specifically to the La Prueba Bilingual Certification Exam, the following procedures will be followed. Call or email the complaint to the Prueba Testing Office.

• The complaint should contain the name, email and test date, filing it and a brief description of the alleged complaint. It should be filed with the testing office within five business days from the date of the alleged complaint.
• An investigation conducted by the testing office shall follow the filing of a complaint. The investigation should be informal but thorough.
• A written determination as to the validity of the complaint and a description of the resolution, if any, shall be issued by the testing office and forwarded to the complainant as soon as the investigation is completed. This may take up to three weeks for scoring issues if we need to have the test re-graded by a different grader.
• The testing office shall maintain the files and records relating to the complaints for a period of one year. Test booklets and response audio files used in the administration of Prueba will be maintained in a secure location for the period of one year. At the end of one year, the test booklets will be shredded and the audio erased.
• The complainant can request a reconsideration of the case in instances of dissatisfaction with the resolution. The request for reconsideration should be made to the New Mexico Public Education Department within 10 business days of the resolution of the complaint.
• Test takers will have ninety days (90) from the date they took the exam and/or received the test results in which to file a complaint; any complaint filed after that date will not be accepted.
