The Eastern New Mexico University Department of Art and the Runnels Gallery welcome alumni back to campus to participate in the Art Alumni Project. Every other summer alumni gather on campus to reconnect with former classmates as well as graduates from other years and current students. Together the group of like-minded creative professionals will create new and original work for exhibition in the Runnels Gallery.

The creative objective changes each time alumni return to campus. Past projects include the creation of multiple individual mixed media pieces to form one large "tree of life" and another project included large scale paintings inspired by various novels from science fiction author Jack Williamson. Various art materials are provided to the group along with a general concept and the directive to "think on your feet" as a group to refine and execute the given concept. The final results are a thoughtful, collaborative and beautiful body of new art and design work to share with the campus community.

After the exhibition ends, the worked created will either be sold (all proceeds going to a Runnels Gallery scholarship) or become part of the University art collection and displayed in an ENMU campus building.
