The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) Emergency Management Concentration may be for you if you are a current or aspiring emergency services professional wanting to advance your knowledge or career. In order to enter this program, you'll need to have an Associate of Applied Arts and Sciences with a technical or vocational major from a Council for Higher Education (CHEA)-recognized organization. ENMU offers two concentration areas as part of our BAAS. The average time frame for completing a BAAS degree at ENMU is two years.
You can use either of these concentration areas to satisfy your secondary concentration requirements for the BAAS. Our program's flexibility, combined with the best elements of online teaching, is designed for practicing professionals and aspiring leaders.
Emergency Management
Emergency management is the discipline of dealing with and avoiding risk through emergency preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation. Successful emergency management involves individuals, groups and communities working together to manage hazards. To be able to build disaster resistant and resilient communities, a broad range of future and current professionals need courses that introduce them to hazards, risk, vulnerability, disasters, and how to handle them.
To help prepare you for challenges you may meet in this field, we offer specific courses in emergency management, based on the FEMA Emergency Management Institute and the International Association of Emergency Management's recommendations. If you are working as a public servant, working in local, state, or federal government, or studying forensics, psychology, criminal justice or sociology, emergency management will better equip you for your career.
Do I Qualify for This BAAS Program?
Our Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences Emergency Management Concentration will help you use your prior academic experience to complete your bachelor's degree.
You can enter our BAAS Program to earn your first bachelor's degree. To qualify you must have one of the following:
- An Associate of Applied Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree from an institution with accreditation recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- Have earned at least 30 credit hours in a career-technical related discipline from an institution with accreditation recognized by the CHEA.

Online Learning Format For Emergency Management Concentration
Our Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) concentration in emergency management is designed to be completed 100% online. You'll complete assignments, readings, tests and projects throughout each semester. Recorded lectures via Mediasite will connect you with professors and other students at your convenience. If your courses use Mediasite and Canvas, related to recorded lectures is done on your own schedule, rather than during a specific time. Our program is designed with the working professional in mind.
