If you answered yes to any of these questions, are a current or aspiring emergency services professional and have an Associate of Applied Arts and Sciences with a technical or vocational major from a Council for Higher Education (CHEA)-recognized organization, we offer two concentration areas as part of our Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS). The average time frame for completing a BAAS degree is two years.

Either of these concentration areas may be used to satisfy secondary concentration requirements for the BAAS. This program's flexibility, combined with the best elements of online teaching, is designed for practicing professionals and aspiring leaders.

Fire and Emergency Services

Our Fire and Emergency Services Administration (FESA) concentration is a 10-course curriculum designed to provide you with the fundamental leadership skills you need to prepare for current and potential fire and emergency services supervisory and management positions. Our program is geared toward:

  • Fire and EMS supervisors
  • Managers
  • Chief officers
  • Administrators
  • State directors
  • Training officers
  • Instructors

The curriculum for this program includes six core courses developed by the National Fire Academy Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education Program. We are also one of only four upper-division National Fire Academy (NFA)-recognized institutions west of the Mississippi.

Do I Qualify for This BAAS Program?

Our Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science Fire and Emergency Services Administration Concentration will help you use your prior academic experience to complete your first bachelor's degree.

You can enter our BAAS Program to earn your first bachelor's degree. To qualify you must have one of the following:

  1. Have an Associate of Applied Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree from an institution with accreditation recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  2. Have earned at least 30 credit hours in a career-technical related discipline from an institution with accreditation recognized by the CHEA.

Online Learning Format for Fire and Emergency Services Administration

Our Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) concentration area in fire and emergency services administration is designed to be completed 100% online. You'll complete assignments, readings, tests and projects throughout each semester. Recorded lectures via Mediasite will connect you with professors and other students at your convenience. If your courses use Mediasite and Canvas, related to recorded lectures is done on your own schedule, rather than during a specific time. Our program is designed with the working professional in mind.
