New Greyhound World
Email, March 23, 2020
Dear Eastern students, faculty, and staff:
Today is the first day of our new Greyhound world. Our dedicated staff and faculty have been working around the clock for the past two weeks to move all relevant student services and course instruction to online or to other alternative means to support our mission goals of high academic standards and student success.
Students: WE ARE HERE FOR YOU! Please check your email and MyENMU Portal regularly for announcements about University operations and coursework. All classes have a Blackboard page, but if you run into issues or need assistance, you can communicate with your professors or ENMU staff directly, or call our Blackboard HelpLine at 877.755.3668. We expect you to find the same high level of engagement and student-centered service you are used to, whether you have been attending class on campus or taking classes online all along.
Faculty: WE ARE HERE FOR YOU! If there is anything that we can do to make your transition to online coursework easier, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Our job as administrators is to clear the path for you to educate our students. As above, please check your ENMU email and portal University operations announcements to keep abreast of all current issues and responses to the changing COVID-19 landscape. If you find issues are not being addressed, please be sure to communicate to VPAA Jamie Laurenz through your usual chain of command. We will do everything we can to make sure obstacles are removed, so you can continue to teach and care for our students.
Staff: WE ARE HERE FOR YOU! Be sure to keep an eye on your ENMU email and the University operations portal updates for the latest information. If you can’t find the answer to a question in the University Operations updates, please contact your supervisor so they can get you the information you need. If there is anything else you may need to perform your job in this time of constant change, please let us know and we will try to make it happen!
The vice presidents of each University area, the other members of the Emergency Planning Council (EPC) and I have been meeting daily and work working hard to get to where we are today. Many of the decisions the EPC made were difficult, but we understand these are trying times.
Our first priority is continuity of instruction in our efforts to provide stability and high-quality education to our students as we continue to move them toward earning their degrees.
THANK YOU ALL for your courage, your dedication, your hard work, and especially your patience and understanding. I know we will all make it through this in good shape because we support each other; it is embedded deeply in our Eastern culture to do everything humanly possible to serve and protect our students, faculty and staff.
We are Greyhounds.
