Postponement of Spring Commencement

Email, March 20, 2020

Dear ENMU students, faculty and staff,

During this extraordinary time, we are committed to ensuring a safe and healthy environment, resulting in some very difficult decisions. As with many higher education institutions across the country, it is with great regret that we are announcing the postponement of our in-person Spring 2020 Commencement Ceremony, as well as all college, school and department-based recognition ceremonies, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Students will still graduate consistent with academic standards.

You are likely aware of the unprecedented federal and state government restrictions on large public gatherings announced this week. With this in mind, and given the early date of our ceremonies this year and the uncertainty of travel restrictions the ENMU Board of Regents voted to announce the Commencement postponement today.

In the meantime, we encourage all students eligible to graduate this semester to apply for graduation via the Office of the Registrar no later than March 31, 2020. All degrees will be conferred for students who complete degrees and will be mailed to their home addresses.

We deeply regret the postponement of our in-person celebration of our graduates and their achievements, and we thank you once again for your understanding, patience and citizenship during this challenging time.

The ENMU Board of Regents expressed their intent to hold a recognition of spring graduates at a later date. Please stay current on all campus updates at
