The Graduate Student Commons (GSC) is a University-based initiative comprised of a wide-ranging array of services, dedicated to providing you with opportunities for learning and a broad, collegiate experience. Initial funding for the Graduate Student Commons was provided by a Title V PPOHA (Promoting Post-baccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans) grant. The GSC is committed to empowering you as a graduate student by adding value to your ENMU experience through our support services and activities that allow for personal development. We also aim to empower faculty by providing programs, activities and faculty workshops that improve the pedagogy and delivery of instruction, using proven best practices.

Programs and Services for Students

GSC programs and services are provided on site at the Graduate Student Commons facility, located in the lower-level of the Campus Union (CUB). Through this program, we provide learning opportunities through support services, programs, activities and events that enrich academic, social, cultural, leadership, and personal development and growth.

Programs and Services for Faculty

GSC provides programs, activities and faculty workshops for the improvement of online pedagogy and content delivery using proven best practices. Our goal has a dual purpose: to increase access by offering a larger number of online courses or programs, and also provide the resources to ensure that the online offerings are of the highest quality. We achieve this through obtaining appropriate technology – equipment and software – and by our individualized sessions with faculty members to assist them in their teaching and learning practices.

Promoting Post-baccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans (PPOHA)

The PPOHA program provides grants to expand post-baccalaureate educational opportunities for, and improve the academic attainment of, Hispanic students.

PPOHA provides grants to:

  1. Expand post-baccalaureate educational opportunities for, and improve the academic attainment of, Hispanic students.
  2. Expand the post-baccalaureate academic offerings as well as enhance the program quality in the institutions of higher education that are educating the majority of Hispanic college students and helping large numbers of Hispanic and low-income students complete postsecondary degrees.
