The 2017 Drama Festival will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 and conclude Saturday, Feb. 18 after the awards ceremony immediately following the last one-act play. Our festival consists of one-act plays presented by participating schools, numerous workshops, social gatherings, and networking opportunities for students and educators from every corner of the state and nearby Texas. You are invited to participate whether or not your school is going to present a play this year. Come and be a part of this valuable educational and community-building event. While visiting ENMU, students will be able to meet the faculty of the College of Fine Arts, tour the campus and join in with the University community.
Performance slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Entries must be received by Jan. 30, 2017. Each high school will have a total of 45 minutes for their production including set up and strike.
In the past, we have recognized new plays written by high school students. The results have been outstanding and we would love to see what more of our local, budding playwrights have to say.
Concerning Performance Material
If your material may be seen by some audience members as offensive (language, sexuality, or lewd actions), you must notify us on your registration form so that we can indicate it on the performance schedule. If you neglect to inform us prior to your presentation, we reserve the right to stop your show.
We will have clinics led by faculty and advanced students for high school filmmakers and a screening of student films with formative feedback. More information about submitting films will be available soon.
High school seniors will have the opportunity to audition and/or present a portfolio for Department of Theatre and Digital Filmmaking scholarships for fall 2017. Students will have the opportunity to warm-up and prepare by attending the Audition Techniques workshop. Students interested in film scholarships should arrange for a conference and portfolio/reel review upon arrival.
