ENMU Theatre and Arts Drama Academy is a summer program for high school and middle school students and their directors. The program for high schoolers, grades 9-12, is a resident camp and the program designed for middle schoolers grades 6-8 is a day camp.

All students with any interest in the following are encouraged to participate:

  • Performing
  • Improving their ability to think and speak clearly
  • Learning to move with grace
  • Building self confidence
  • Developing leadership skills and
  • Strengthening their ability to work on a team

While at camp, each theatre student will study a variety of disciplines which may include acting, voice, movement, audition techniques, acting for the camera, improvisation, script analysis and simple set design and construction. All activities take place under the watchful eye of highly trained professional actors and teachers.

Attendees have the opportunity to see performances, participate in recreational activities and perform in a camp talent show. All students will also participate in a public performance on the final day of camp. This public performance is free of charge and open to all: family, friends and guests.

There will be workshops for school teachers and directors as well to share ideas on auditioning/rehearsal tactics, simple/effective set designs and making optimum use of limited resources.

Theatre and Arts Drama Academy 2017 Camp Dates

June 18-22 High School Academy (for grades 9-12)

  • Cost for resident campers:
    $250 (covers camper's lodging in chaperoned, ENMU resident halls and all meals)
  • Cost for commuting campers:
    $220 (covers all meals; campers do NOT stay on campus overnight)

June 26-29 Junior High School Academy (for grades 6-8)

  • Cost $195 (covers daily lunch; campers do not spend any night on campus)

Theatre and Arts Drama Academy Founder

Academy founder and lead teacher is Patrick McCreary. McCreary spent 42 years in the entertainment industry, internationally, onstage, in television and on film. He is an equity actor, director, producer, playwright, choreographer, designer, singer and stage combatant. He holds a B.A. and an MFA in theatre and has included college teaching with his performing for 15 years.

Enrollment is limited. Students are encouraged to apply early.
