ENMU Writing Center Services for Students

We understand writing is a process, and we all need help along the way. If you need help with a writing assignment for an ENMU class, we are here to help.

We are not an editing service and will not copy-edit or rewrite papers. Our goal is to help you to recognize your writing struggles, identify your mistakes, and gain the knowledge and tools to fix them. We want to empower you to build your paper planning, writing, and revision skills by teaching strategies aimed at improving the writing assignment at hand as well as future writing assignments.

There are three ways to get tutoring from the ENMU Writing Center:

The ENMU Writing Center will be open on Jan. 25 for in-person appointments.

Please be advised that we only book up to 24 hours in advance, and up to 1 month (30 days) in advance.

We also offer online appointments. You may request a video chat to speak with one of our tutors, or submit your assignment and a tutor will respond with written commentary. We use Microsoft Teams for video chat appointments so you must have a camera and microphone on your device.

We try to respond to all requests within 24 hours; the exception to this would be when papers are submitted after hours on Friday or over the weekend. Papers submitted during off-hours may not be reviewed until the following Monday. Please submit your papers in .docx format.

Plan Ahead

Appointments must be scheduled two days prior to your chosen appointment time. Please make sure your appointment occurs at least one full day before your assignment is due, if possible.

Appointment Times

Undergraduate: 30 minutes

Graduates: 45 minutes

You don't always need to make an appointment to get help with your work. This type of tutoring does not require video chat capabilities and may provide more flexibility in timing. With Email Tutoring, you will submit your assignment or paper using our online form. Your ENMU Writing Center tutor will make comments using track changes or commenting functions and email it back to you.

This approach is good if you have planned ahead and have plenty of time to get your work completed. Tutors reply within 24 hours (not including weekends and holidays) for your submission.

Sometimes, you just need a quick answer to help clear your path as you work on your class writing assignments. Use our Ask a Question form to ask a short question. You'll typically receive an answer within one business day (does not include weekends and holidays).

What to Expect

You'll need to have access to your paper or assignment that you're working on. If you are working ahead, have your assignment rubric on hand as well.

When you sign up for your appointment or email tutoring, attach materials that will be helpful as we assess your work: rough draft, grading rubric, any notes you might have.
