Communication Media Camp 2025: Lights, Camera, Action!

ENMU's Communication Media Camp is a one-day camp designed for high school students (grades 9-12 or ages 15 and up). Participating students will gain experience with the following technology: television studios, camera and video packages, podcasting, and editing. Students will be divided into two teams in the morning and alternating between the four areas for exposure into broadcast media.

All camp events will take place in the Communication building on the ENMU campus on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

Schedule of Events

8:30 - 10:15 a.m. Session 1

Team 1 Studio: Campers will learn the basics of operating cameras, switchers, teleprompters, and audio boards. Campers will do a news type run-through from on-air talent to camper operator, director and audio board operator.

Team 2 Camera: Campers will learn the basics of various types of cameras from large, lens sports cameras to small, compact high-speed shutters and work with green screen shooting. They will learn shooting techniques with the goal of producing a short video package at the end, showing off their newly learned skills.

10:15 a.m. – noon Session 2

Teams 1 and 2 will switch to learn the other area.

noon - 1 p.m. Lunch

Pizza will be provided in the Communication building.

1 - 3 p.m. Session 3

Podcasting: Campers will be divided into four groups and will develop, write, and produce a podcast. Students will research a topic of their choosing, determine podcast roles, record, and edit their project during this session.

3 - 4:30 p.m. Session 4

Editing: Campers will receive an overview on the use of editing tools, such as Premier Pro, to edit the videos the teams did in the morning sessions. This will give each group one edited package of video, with graphics and audio underlay. An example of green screen technology and editing will be done.

Registration Fee - $30 per student

This fee includes instruction, a T-shirt, lunch meal, and water and some snacks for the morning and afternoon sessions.

Spots for this camp are limited and will be given on a first come, first serve basis.
