ENMU's Department of Communication is excited to host a new event, Communication Media Camp! All camp events will take place in the Communication building on the ENMU campus on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In this one-day camp, high school students, grades 9-12 or ages 15+, will learn about and use broadcasting technology to then create their own media.
Participants will learn and use broadcasting technology like television studios setups, camera operation and create video packages, create a podcast, and edit video and sound. Students will be divided into two teams in the morning and alternate between the four areas for exposure into broadcast media.

Registration Fee - $30 per student
This fee includes instruction, a T-shirt, lunch, and water and some snacks for the morning and afternoon sessions.
Spots for this camp are limited and will be given on a first come, first serve basis.

Team 1 Studio: Campers will learn the basics of operating cameras, switchers, teleprompters, and audio boards. Campers will do a news type run-through from on-air talent to camper operator, director and audio board operator. Team 2 Camera: Campers will learn the basics of various types of cameras from large, lens sports cameras to small, compact high-speed shutters and work with green screen shooting. They will learn shooting techniques with the goal of producing a short video package at the end, showing off their newly learned skills. |

Podcasting: Campers will be divided into four groups and will develop, write, and produce a podcast. Students will research a topic of their choosing, determine podcast roles, record, and edit their project during this session. |

Editing: Campers will receive an overview on the use of editing tools, such as Premier Pro, to edit the videos the teams did in the morning sessions. This will give each group one edited package of video, with graphics and audio underlay. An example of green screen technology and editing will be done. |
