March 20–21, 2020
ENMU Single Reed Celebration is an event full of performances, masterclasses, clinics, rehearsals, and camaraderie for clarinetists and saxophonists. Each year features different guest artists, a chance to meet and work with ENMU faculty, and an opportunity get to know ENMU students.
The event is free and open for single reed players from advanced middle school through a professional level. Students, community members, professionals and those with an affinity for single reed instruments are all invited to participate in events and take part in the festival clarinet and saxophone choirs.
High School Clarinetists and Saxophonist
Advanced high school students are also eligible to apply to perform in a masterclass setting and receive individual feedback on their playing. The day ends with a concert that features performances of the Festival Ensembles.
Opening Concert Information
The 2020 Single Reed Celebration opening concert will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020 at 7 p.m. in Buchanan Hall, located within the ENMU Music Building (MB). International artist Arno Bornkamp and Professor of Saxophone at the University of Iowa, Kenneth Tse will perform along with pianist Casey Dierlam Tse. The concert is open to the general public and free to attend.
Single Reed Celebration Master Classes and Performance
Events begin at 9 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2020. Phillip Paglialonga, Professor of Clarinet at the University of North Texas will perform and work with students along with the Saxophone Guest Artists. There will be performances, masterclasses, clinics, and rehearsals throughout.
