The gifted education endorsement is currently the only New Mexico Public Education Department approved endorsement in gifted education in New Mexico.  In 2010, New Mexico mandated all educators teaching students identified as gifted must successfully complete an endorsement in gifted education.

To receive the NMPED endorsement in gifted education, you must:

  • Have a valid New Mexico teaching license
  • Complete the 12-hour graduate program
  • Pass the New Mexico Teaching Assessment (NMTA) for gifted education
