Greyhound Media Lab: From Idea to Media

Join us!

The faculty and students in the Department of Communication at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) invite you and your students to MediaCon Fall 2026. We plan to offer four types of sessions for high school and college students interested in media and communication:

• Hands-on media workshops. Led by ENMU Department of Communication’s broadcasting faculty and KENW, these sessions will cover camera operation, interviewing, podcasting, OBS Studio, Adobe InDesign, and video-switcher skills.
• Student media sessions. Student leaders from The Chase (newspaper), HoundBytes (online magazine), and Handwaves (radio station) will share how they create and publish media while developing practical experience.
• Student showcase. Students from participating schools can present their own media work to other participating students, teachers, and faculty in ENMU's Department of Communication.
• Career conversations and networking. Participants can talk with media professionals about career paths and connect with students, media educators, and professionals.

Together, these opportunities will allow students to practice media production, share their work, learn from peers and professionals, and explore future paths in media and communication. We hope you and your students will join us at ENMU on November 12, 2026!

Conference Overview

MediaCon 2026 will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (MT) at ENMU Communication Building and Becky Sharp Auditorium (College of Business). The conference includes:

• Panel discussions with media and communication professionals
• Networking time for students and educators
• Interactive sessions led by ENMU student media organizations:
  • The Chase (online newspaper)
  • Houndbytes (online magazine)
  • Houndwave (radio & podcasting)
  • KENW (broadcast center)

While visiting ENMU, participants will also have the chance to meet the Department of Communication faculty and experience the ENMU campus community.

MediaCon offers a unique opportunity to explore media careers, gain practical insight, and make meaningful connections — all in one day. We hope to see you at ENMU on March 24, 2026!
