NISL/ENMU and NMPED have teamed to present an ambitious three-year program that will develop a cadre of local NISL trainers and principal mentors, and create a pipeline for leadership succession in southeastern New Mexico. This program began its first cohort in July 2015 and is gearing up for a fourth cohort in September 2018.

The fourth cohort will be composed of teacher leaders who wish to achieve administrative licensure in New Mexico. Less than 24 slots exist for this cohort so please apply early. Applications are due on May 25, 2018 and participants will be notified by June 8, 2018.

Teachers will receive 12 free credit hours (four courses) for their participation. These will be awarded 3 credits for fall 2018, 6 credits for spring 2019 and 3 credits for summer session I 2019. For those teachers who do not currently hold a master's degree, this will accomplish one-third of the master's degree in education administration at no cost to the student. For those teachers who already possess a master's degree, this will fulfill half of the education administrator licensure only requirements at no cost to the student.

The NISL curriculum is rigorous and stimulating and requires a significant time commitment. It is important to recognize that the program sessions are equal to 12 graduate credits (four courses).

In order to accommodate both teachers' and administrators' busy schedules, the cohort will meet for 10 two-day weekend sessions from Sept. 8-9, 2018 through June 1-2, 2019 AND a four-day session June 24-27, 2019. Please note: Weekend sessions are on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., which we understand may, regrettably, preclude some from participating.
