The Comic Book Stand: Vol. 2, Issue #23, Jessica Jones

She was created by writer Brain Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos.

Jones’ first appearance was in Alias #1 in November 2001 as a former superhero who became the owner and sole employee of Alias Private Investigations.

Alias ran for 28 issues from 2001 to 2004. After the end of Alias, Jones and other characters from the series were integrated into Bendis’ other series The Pulse.

Bendis has expressed his desire to incorporate Jones in the parallel universe Ultimate Marvel. In Ultimate Spider-Man #106 she is a senior at Peter Parker’s school.

Parker is not the only other Marvel character she has connections with; her father worked for Tony Stark. Jones’ father received tickets from Stark for Disney World, and on their way home their car collided with a military convey carrying radioactive chemicals.

Her family died during this accident and that is what put her into a coma. She was then placed into an orphanage and adopted by the Jones family.

Parker has more ties to Jones than most realize; it was because of him that she decided to use her powers for good. She was inspired by watching him fight the villain Sandman.

Throughout the comics she has held the aliases of Jewel, Knightress and Power Woman.

Krysten Ritter portrays the title character in Marvel’s Jessica Jones, a Netflix original series.
