When it comes to financing your education, ENMU is here to help! Many of our students receive some sort of financial assistance, and we can help you find out if you qualigy for any grants, loans, or scholarships. View information about scholarships for which you may apply as a current ENMU student. We also have a limited number of part-time graduate assistantships available.

Graduate assistantships providing hands-on experience may be awarded to qualified students. In addition to a stipend, graduate assistantships include a tuition waiver, which gives out-of-state students our low in-state tuition. A limited number of student-hire positions are also available in the department.

Career Opportunites with a Master's in Physical Education

With a master’s degree in sport administration, you can pursue careers such as:

  • Managing an athletic department at the collegiate or interscholastic level
  • Working for a professional sport organization in various departments (for example, marketing/promotion/finance), event management, sports venue/facility management to recreation management

Admission Requirements for Master's in Physical Education Program

Requirements for admission to the HPE graduate program include the following:

  1. You must meet general admission requirements as set forth by the Graduate School.
  2. You must have a completed bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA no lower than 3.0. If you have a cumulative GPA lower than 3.0, you may be considered for provisional admission.
  3. If you do not have an undergraduate background in Physical Education or a related field, you will be provisionally admitted and required to take HPE 529 prior to regular admission.
  4. . You must submit a letter of intent. The one-page letter should specify the intended emphasis area and should include the following:
    • A brief biography
    • A statement regarding your decision to attend ENMU
    • Your career aspirations upon completion of the degree

Only complete applications will be considered. Your application will be evaluated by the HPE graduate coordinator according to the criteria listed above. Regular status cannot be attained until all admission requirements have been met.

Degree Options for Master's in Sport Administration Program

This degree may be obtained with or without a thesis.

Thesis option: The thesis option is strongly encouraged for students who are considering future doctoral study. You must complete 15 hours of Physical Education Core Requirements, 12 hours of emphasis area coursework, 3 hours of electives and 6 hours of Master's Thesis.

If you elect to take the thesis option, you may not enroll in HPE 578 Coaching/Sport Administration Capstone Projects.

Non-thesis option: You must complete 18 hours of Physical Education Core Requirements including a 3-hour capstone course, 12 hours of emphasis area coursework and 6 hours of electives. No practicum or workshop credits may be included in the degree plan.

Note: HPE 578 must be taken in the final semester of coursework; you must have successfully completed all other core courses with a grade of “B” or better prior to registration for HPE 578. HPE 578 may be retaken only one time. If you fail HPE 578 a second time, you will automatically be dismissed and will no longer be eligible to participate in HPE graduate studies as degree-seeking.
