Online Criminal Justice Bachelor's Degree

If you are interested in working in local, state or federal law enforcement, in law and the court system, probation, crime victim advocacy, consulting or related career fields you should major in criminal justice at ENMU. Our Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice curriculum provides a strong theoretical foundation to advance the study of how societies respond to crime; additionally, real world experience is evaluated through an internship. The time frame for degree completion varies with each student, but you can reasonably expect to complete this degree in four years.

You have three options for degree completion: entirely on-campus, online (through web-based or lecture-capture based courses) or through a combination of both. This program can be 100% online depending on the minor you choose.

Be sure to talk to your advisor if you need the 100% online option to make sure you choose the right minor.

Learning Format For Criminal Justice Coursework

Our bachelor’s in criminal justice is designed to be completed online, however you have the option to take all classes online or a combination of online and in-person.  In any case, you’ll complete assignments, readings, papers, tests and projects throughout the semester.

This degree includes three different course formats:

• Course sections where recorded and live lectures via Mediasite connect you with professors and other students on your own time are labeled “AW.”
• Courses where participation with the professor, other online students and students attending the in-person class on campus is required in real-time are labeled, “SW.”
• Courses that are completely online and offered through Canvas, with no recorded lecture or in-person students are labeled “WW.”

Our criminal justice degree also requires the completion of an internship. This internship provides you with the critical experience you need when you are applying for a job after graduation.

Advising for Criminal Justice Majors

When you join our program we want to make sure you have all the resources and advice you need to successfully get your degree. To do this, we offer advising via phone or email for online students, and in-person appointments if you are on campus. We look forward to working with you!

Criminal Justice Resources and Academic Help

We want to make sure you get the support you need. We offer flexible tutoring services, including the ENMU Writing Center which is available to help you improve your writing and help you clearly communicate for written, school-related projects and assignments.

We also have online databases, journal article, and eBooks accessible through the Golden Student Success Center (GSSC). ENMU librarians are available virtually, via phone and email to provide assistance, so you'll always have the help you need to take advantage of library resources.

Scholarships and Financial Assistance

ENMU is committed to helping you finance your education. You can find more information about admissions scholarships and find out why more than $22 million in financial assistance is awarded to ENMU students every year. Once you are an enrolled ENMU student, there are additional scholarships available.

Additionally, many Greyhounds who take courses in Portales also work part-time, on-campus jobs to help finance their education.

Our program has a great record in preparing students for meaningful employment in social services such as youth programs, intervention services, policing agencies and law school. Depending on your career path, additional training (e.g., law enforcement academies, law school, paralegal training and advanced degrees) may be required. Advisors and the department work with ENMU’s Counseling and Career Services to offer free job placement assistance to all ENMU students.
