Paying for College

ENMU understands that being a freshman may seem overwhelming and somewhat scary, especially where financing an education is concerned. We are committed to assisting our greyhounds and their parents gain an understanding of grants, scholarships, loans, work-study employment, and to address any other questions about financial aid.

Chapter 2: Paying for College

ENMU’s Financial Aid Office strives to enhance the quality of life for our greyhounds by efficiently using resources to assist in affording a quality college education. We administer programs of merit based aid-scholarships and need-based aid-grants, loans, and campus work-study employment.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – The first step to receive Federal Student Aid is to complete the FAFSA which you will find along with more financial aid information on the FAFSA website. The FAFSA can be completed at any time starting in October of your senior year. Once ENMU receives your FAFSA information and your admissions files is completed, a Financial Aid and Scholarship Notification will be sent out starting in February.

Work-Study and Employment: Work-Study funds are awarded based on need (based on your FAFSA application). If you qualify, you get to work on campus. Even if you don't qualify for work-study, you can still work on campus as a student employee. Our folks in Career Services keep the Student Jobs Board updated with all different types of jobs open to our greyhounds.

Scholarships: Scholarships are awarded by Enrollment Services, the ENMU Foundation and various academic departments to current and incoming greyhounds. To be considered for undergraduate admissions scholarship, the priority deadline is Aug. 1 for the fall semester and Jan. 3 for the spring semester.

Pro-Tip: Some scholarships are based on ACT or SAT scores you earn. If you're coming in as a freshman, be sure to take the ACT or SAT early and often because ENMU takes your highest composite score!

Use Your High School Counselor: Your school guidance counselor can help you zero in on local scholarships and other specific awards for which you may qualify.
