New Human Resources Generalist is an ENMU Graduate

Editor's Note: Pauline Martinez, the new Human Resources generalist at Eastern New Mexico University, began her position on July 7.
Her job duties include assisting with ENMU's recruitment process, assisting with job descriptions and advertisement development, posting open positions, screening resumes, maintaining the HR website and placing ads on outside websites. Mrs. Martinez initiates all new hire appointment letters, conducts Orientation and processes paperwork.
She also maintains the electronic leave system, counsels employees on benefits and coordinates vendor visits and benefit fairs. She assists ENMU employees and the community with any questions and concerns they may have.

Q. What are your degrees and majors (include names of school)
I obtained a Bachelor of Science with a minor in Sociology from ENMU.

Q. Where were you born, raised, and what was your life like growing up (what did parents do, siblings, etc.)?
I was born and raised in Tucumcari. My father was a Veteran and also worked as a Police Dispatcher. My mother was a homemaker.
I am the youngest out of 8 siblings. I lived a simply, happy life.
Holidays are always spent together with family when possible.

Q. Your own family?
My family and I have lived in Portales for the past 16 years. I have been married for 17 years to Jesus Martinez and have two wonderful children, Adriana Marez and Christopher Martinez.
Also, I have been my mother's caretaker for the past 10 years. She resides with me and my family.

Q. What are your hobbies?
My hobbies are spending time with my family, gardening and going to the movies.

Q. What is your ultimate career goal?
My ultimate career goal is to continue to learn as much as I possibly can and to help everyone succeed.

Q. What gives your life meaning? Besides career goals, what else do you hope to accomplish?
Having God and my family in my life. I want to be the best employee I can at ENMU.

Q. What is you general impression of Portales, and ENMU?
My general impression of Portales is a "small town vive trying to get a big town vive." I view ENMU is a close knit family, which another reason for me to come back.
