Q.  When did you begin working at ENMU?

Adjunct Professor Spring and Summer 2016, full-time employee as of August 2016

Q.  What is the history of you being a student at ENMU?

I attended ENMU 1996-2000, and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communicative Disorders, with a minor in Early Childhood Education. As a student at ENMU I was active in Student Senate, Chi Omega Women's Fraternity, and the National Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA).

I met my husband while attending ENMU. Several of my closest friends to this day are people I met while attending college here. Some of my favorite memories as a student were Greek Week, Homecoming festivities, Rush, and Mixers with the Fraternity's on campus.

Q.  Tell us about the audiology-related classes you teach, and about serving patients in the Audiology Clinic. What kind of services, pediatric hearing testing, hearing aid services, etc., does the Clinic offer.

I teach Basic Audiology and Aural Rehabilitation, both courses serve as an introduction to the field of Audiology. Both courses are offered in the combined classroom/Mediasite format. Students interested in exploring the field of Audiology may observe a wide range of Audiology services in the Audiology Clinic located on campus in Lea Hall.

Starting this spring, Audiology practicum experience will be offered as a class. Audiology services at the ENMU Speech and Hearing Clinic include: hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations for children and adults of all ages, along with hearing aid and hearing assistance technology evaluation, fitting and monitoring. I also provide Educational Audiology consultation services to area school districts.

Q.  What have you enjoyed most about your job, and what have been the biggest challenges?

It is a pleasure getting to know the CDIS faculty. Our department consists of a great group of people and I'm excited to be a part of the family. The CDIS Department has grown tremendously since I was in school here. I look forward to being a part of continued growth of the CDIS Program. I really like teaching.

The biggest challenge so far, is setting up an interactive online classroom experience. I learn new things constantly. I feel that my brain has been on overload since August, when I started this job. Kudos to my Distance Education friends, John Erdman and Ellen Gardner, they truly go above and beyond to help faculty members adapt to the changing landscape of education and technology.

Q.  What were you doing before you came to ENMU, and what other jobs have you held outside of ENMU?

Prior to working here, I worked full-time as the Educational Audiologist for the Clovis Municipal School District in Clovis. I continue to provide part-time educational audiology services to CMS. This is my 9th year at CMS.

I completed my Audiology residency at Livingston Audiology and Hearing Aid Center in Clovis. I was hired immediately after graduation and I worked full time evaluating adult patients and dispensing hearing aids for a little over seven years.

Q.  What are your degrees and majors (from schools besides ENMU), and what activities did you participate in college?

I received my Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, School of Allied Health in May 2004. Following graduation at ENMU in May 2000 with my Bachelor's Degree, I applied and was accepted in to the Au.D. program at TTU.

Q.  Where were you born, raised, and what was your life like growing up?

I was born in Manhattan, KS. My parents were in the military at that time. I grew up in a small town in Missouri.  Asbury, MO, is located near the MO and KS state line between Pittsburg, KS, and Joplin, MO. My family moved to Artesia, NM, when I was in middle school. I graduated from Artesia High School in 1996. In high school I was involved in FFA and student council. I loved riding horses and barrel racing in local rodeos. I have a younger brother.

Q.  Tell us about your own family?

I met my husband, Michael Lingnau, my freshman year at ENMU. He was in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and is still involved as an Alumni member. We've been married seventeen years.  We have three beautiful boys: Tyler age 13, Austin age 12, and Zachary age 9.

We live in Clovis and my boys attend school at Clovis Christian School. Life is busy with nonstop sporting events and school activities. My children love soccer, basketball, golf, hunting and archery.

Q.  What are your hobbies?

I really enjoy traveling and exploring new places. I particularly love the beach; the ocean is my happy place. I love spending time with my family and watching my boys play sports. I enjoy annual girl trips with my college friends.

I consider my career a hobby. I am a volunteer member of a national Audiology Board and I had the opportunity in March this year to lobby for Speech Pathology and Audiology services on Capitol Hill. It was a great experience and I look forwarding to serving another two years.

Q.  What is your ultimate career goal?

My career goal is to obtain tenure at ENMU and to help the CDIS program continue to grow. I am hoping to generate student interest in the field of Audiology and possibly become a feeder school for the graduate Audiology program at Texas Tech University.

My personal goal is to continue to stay current with technology and trends in order to provide top notch Audiology services to the people in our community.

Q.  What gives your life meaning?  Besides career goals, what else do you hope to accomplish?

My children and my husband give my life meaning. I enjoy quality time with my family. I am pleased that this job allows time off over the holidays and summer.
