Momentum Grows at ENMU: Enrollment Trending Up for Spring 2025 as University Prepares for Fall 2025 Commencement
PORTALES, NM – Dec. 4, 2025 – Eastern New Mexico University announced today a graduating class of 481 students for the fall 2025 semester, coinciding with a nine percent upward trend in enrollment headcount for the upcoming spring term.
Fall 2025 Commencement
The University will honor the fall graduates at the Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.
ENMU will confer a total of 511 degrees during the ceremony, with 63 students graduating with honors. The class includes 157 students receiving associate degrees, 205 receiving bachelor’s degrees, and 149 receiving master’s degrees.

Spring 2026 Enrollment Growth
In addition to the upcoming commencement ceremony, ENMU reports an upward total enrollment headcount, trending at an increase of nine percent for spring 2026 compared to this time last year.
As of Nov. 30, enrollment headcount totaled 2,911, up from 2,670 in 2024. Final numbers will be available at the beginning of the Spring semester.
“This is the cycle of higher education and the milestones we celebrate,” ENMU Chancellor James Johnston said. “We celebrate the earning of a college degree with our graduates and their families at commencement, and at the same time celebrate the beginning of an educational journey for our new Greyhounds.”
Key enrollment data indicates growth across all student categories:
- Undergraduate growth: Total headcount is up 11.2 percent.
- Graduate growth: Total headcount is up 4.2 percent.
- Credit hours: Total combined credit hours rose to 31,723, a 10.7 percent increase from the previous year’s count of 28,646.
Current data show strong continued enrollment growth among returning sophomores, juniors, seniors, concurrent students, and graduate students entering the spring semester.
