Q. What have you enjoyed most about your job, and what have been the biggest challenges?
I’ve really enjoyed getting to know everyone in the HR office – they’ve all been great! The biggest challenge over the past couple of weeks has been learning Banner!
Q. What were you doing before you came to ENMU, and what other jobs have you held?
I worked as a legal assistant at Doerr & Knudson, PA here in town for six and a half years – I loved learning all that I did while I was there! Before that, I worked at ENMU as a student at the Information Desk and at the Post Office.
Q. What are your degrees and majors, and what activities did you participate in college?
I double majored in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems and received my BBA from ENMU in 2007. Then, I went back and received another BBA from ENMU in 2009 in Hospitality Management. While at ENMU, I was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, Panhellenic, Student Senate and the Hospitality Club.
Q. Where were you born, raised, and what was your life like growing up?
I was born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico. We lived on the outskirts of town and played outside a ton. My grandparents lived right next door, so my siblings and I spent a lot of time at their house as well. We’ve always been a pretty close family! I remember taking trips to Ruidoso for the day, camping and spending all of the holidays together.
Q. Tell us about your own family?
My boyfriend, Kevin, and I have been together for about five and a half years. We bought a house here in Portales about two years ago and live there with our two dogs, Azure (who we think may be Catahoula, Greyhound and who knows what else!) and Apollo (possibly Black German Shepherd with some Husky).
Q. What are your hobbies?
I am the General Advisor for the Zeta Tau Alpha chapter here at ENMU. I attend weekly meetings with them and help out when necessary. I have really enjoyed spending time with the collegiate women and getting to know them. I am also involved in the ZTA Alumnae Chapter in the area. Other than that, I like to spend time playing with Azure and Apollo, catching up on shows with Kevin (we’re big Game of Thrones and Walking Dead fans) and playing Call of Duty online.
Q. What is your general impression of Portales, and ENMU?
I came here for school in 2003 and have since made it my home. I’ve met a ton of wonderful people and love how the community really looks out for each other!
