Meet the 2019 Spirit of Eastern Award Winners

The 2019 Spirit of Eastern Awards took place in April. The Spirit of Eastern Awards are given to employees nominated and chosen by their peers for exhibiting the true spirit of Eastern New Mexico University.

This year's winners in the support staff category were Stephen Fields, controls technician, Malisa Molina, senior administrative assistant for the Office of the Dean for the College of Education and Technology, and Kathy Vigil, custodian. The winners of the professional staff category were DeLynn Bargas, registrar, Blanca Bustos, manager for Human Resources and Payroll Services, and Bradley Mauldin, chief of police.

Meet some of the winners:

Malisa Molina

Number of years at ENMU: November 2019 would mark 13 years, but I left for seven months and have been back for five.

Favorite part of your job: Helping others.

What it means to you to win this award: It is an absolute honor to receive this award. I work hard because it's part of who I am. I do it without expecting anything in return, so this was an amazing incentive!

DeLynn Bargas

Number of years at ENMU: I have worked at ENMU for 13 years.

Favorite part of your job: My favorite part of my job is seeing students succeed and accomplish their educational achievements.

What it means to you to win this award: Winning this award means my colleagues have confidence in my work ethic and ability to support and represent ENMU.

Bradley Mauldin

Number of years at ENMU: I have worked at ENMU on three separate occasions. I guess the third time is a charm. I have worked for ENMU for over fourteen years. My most recent employment with ENMU as the chief of police has been for almost ten years.

Favorite part of your job: I love working with students, instructing courses and public service equally. I can't think of a better position to be in at ENMU while being able to serve as the Student Government Association advisor, a member of our resource faculty and chief of police. It never gets boring, it is always a challenge and I get to experience something new every day.

What it means to you to win this award: I appreciate the recognition from my peers and our administration. We have a lot of great employees at ENMU deserving of recognition. It is an honor and privilege to work with such great students, faculty and staff on a daily basis. ENMU is more than a place of employment to me; it is an extension of my family.
