ENMU System Supports Ruidoso Community

PORTALES, NM – April 19, 2022- The Eastern New Mexico University System is providing material, financial and moral support to their branch campus located in Ruidoso, New Mexico as firefighters continue to fight the McBride and Nogal Canyon fires in Lincoln County, New Mexico.

The ENMU-Ruidoso campus has not sustained any damage from the McBride Fire. The ENMU-Roswell campus delivered three generators to Ruidoso, Thursday April 14, to assist with power needs.

As of Monday, ENMU-Ruidoso welcomed back students and staff for classes and on campus operations.  “We are grateful for the support of the ENMU System as the Ruidoso community addresses this terrible loss of homes and property” said Ryan Trosper, President of ENMU-Ruidoso.

Across the ENMU System, faculty continue to work with students who call Ruidoso home or who are struggling to help family or friends affected by the fires across the state.

“The ENMU System is a family and when one of us faces a challenge, we face it together,” said Patrice Caldwell, ENMU System Chancellor. “Since we cannot be in Ruidoso, I hope many will choose to support the Lincoln County community with financial and material contributions.”

Anyone wishing to assist the residents of Ruidoso can visit the Community Foundation of Lincoln County website at www.cfolc.org and click on “The Shelter Fund” tab to donate.
