PORTALES, NM – April 13, 2023 – Eastern New Mexico University and New Mexico-based Red Door Brewing Company announced their partnership on Blackwater Draw Lager today. ENMU is also partnering with New Mexico-based Mother Trail Beverage Company on a new canned cocktail named The Greyhound. The beer and cocktail will be available at Red Door Brewery locations in Albuquerque and Clovis, as well as being available in select stores around the state of New Mexico later this summer.

The new beer is a Bohemian-style Pilsner Lager. It is light and refreshing with a pleasant herbal hop bite to finish. Brewed with Pilsner malts and classic European Saaz hops, it’s a clear, crisp lager perfect for enjoying throughout the Llano Estacado.
The beer can design, designed by ENMU alumni and ENMU graphic artist Sara Wright, features the historic Clovis Point found at the Blackwater Draw National Historic Landmark on the ENMU campus. Blackwater Draw Lager was chosen for the beer name out of a contest of more than 80 names by current ENMU student Leander Murphy.
"The Greyhound" is an iconic cocktail made from grapefruit juice and premium gin. Fresh, bright, and tart, this cocktail is a tasty addition to any event on or off campus.
The cocktail can design features ENMU’s most iconic building, the administration building, and was designed by ENMU alumni and ENMU graphic artist Sara Wright. Current ENMU employee Vickie Brisco suggested the name The Greyhound, which was chosen from more the 80 names that were submitted in the naming contest last spring.
"Red Door is excited to partner with ENMU and Mother Trail Beverage Company to market both products. We have been working in various communities throughout Eastern New Mexico for the last several years and are proud to be able to continue to support the area," said Matt Biggs, co-owner of Red Door Brewing Company. "It is an honor ENMU chose our brewery to collaborate with; we look forward to getting these drinks into as many hands as possible and raising money for scholarships at ENMU."
Eastern New Mexico University is hosting an unveiling party at Red Door Brewing on Main, in Clovis, NM, on Friday, May 19, from 5 to 7 p.m., where alumni and friends are invited to come by and try the newest ENMU branded products.
In the last two years, ENMU has worked with New Mexico-based companies Red Rock Roasters to release Greyhound Grind Coffee, Taco Box to release Silver Dawg Salsa, Lescombes Family Vineyard to release Eastern Sunrise Wine, Enchantment Vineyards to release Eastern Sunset Wine, SnuggleCubs Cookies to release the ENMU Victory Cookie, and Heart of the Desert to release Greyhound Crunch Pistachio Caramel Popcorn and ENMU Enchanted Pistachios. Blackwater Draw Lager and The Greyhound Cocktail join in helping to support scholarships at Eastern New Mexico University while supporting businesses in New Mexico.
