Eastern New Mexico University Announces Move-in Day and Welcome Weekend Activities

Portales, NM – August 8, 2023 – Eastern New Mexico University has announced move-in day for students living on campus during the 2023-2024 academic year and some of the significant activities that will take place during the annual Welcome Weekend, titled ENMU Dawg Days.

"I started as Chancellor/President in January of this year, so the First Lady and I look forward to our first Dawg Days event! I've heard nothing but positive things about Dawg Days," said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor. "We are looking forward to welcoming the newest members of the Greyhound family and extending a big welcome back for our returning Greyhounds."

Move-in day is Saturday, August 19, for new students from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.; returning students can move in from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 19. ENMU Faculty, staff, and student groups will be out Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until Noon helping new students move into their dorms.

Welcome Weekend activities kick off Saturday afternoon with the Family/Community Fair, Pep Rally, and Barbecue at 5 p.m. at Dallan Sanders Patio outside the Campus Union Building.

The Office of Campus Life has lined up three nights of Entertainment for ENMU Students as part of Dawg Days. On Saturday night students will get to participate in a paint party. The paint party features gallons of neon paint, special effects and a live DJ.

On Sunday, Aug. 20 ENMU is welcoming The Mind Reader Eric Dittelman. Dittelman combines extraordinary mind reading with stand-up and improv comedy. He has appeared on Ellen, Live with Kelly and Ryan, and has been featured on Entertainment Weekly and Rolling Stone.

On Monday, Aug 21, ENMU is welcoming Comedian Sohrab Forouzesh. Foreouzesh was a finalist for StandUP NBC in 2019, has performed at many Universities, and was also a writer for the sketch show Group Therapy featured on Complex.

"ENMU Dawg Days is always filled with exciting new experiences for our new incoming students to meet new friends," said Rey Coss Director of Campus Life. "As part of this fun-filled weekend is having an awesome DJ paint party, minder-readers, and an entertaining comedian! We want our new students to have a memorable Dawg Days as we welcome them to their new greyhound pack!"
