FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Portales, N.M.– November 5, 2025 – Eastern New Mexico University's Department of Theatre and Digital Filmmaking is proud to present “This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing,” a captivating play written by renowned playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer and directed by ENMU theatre faculty Clara Kundin.
This production follows three sisters, abandoned in the woods, who take starkly different paths to answer the question of what it means to build a legacy. One seeks the horizon, charting the entire globe. One seeks battle, confronting Vikings on the high seas. One seeks stillness, building a new world from the roots of their old one. Two decades later, these three formidable women reunite, exploring the many faces of strength and success.
The one-hour production opens on November 13 and continues throughout the weekend at the University Theatre Center (UTC) Studio Theatre. The show will also tour at Valencia Elementary in Portales, New Mexico, and the Arts Academy at Bella Vista in Clovis, New Mexico.
"This is one of the most beautiful shows I've worked on. The writing is poetic, and the stories of each girl are compelling,” said Kundin. “It's truly a show for families as there is something that everyone, young to old, will enjoy — from pillow fights to heartbreak to a ride on the ocean."
All performances are relaxed and sensory-sensitive, suitable for audience members six years and older.
