Eastern New Mexico University Set to Launch "1ROO for ENMU", Invites Community to "Answer the Call"
PORTALES, NM – November 17, 2025 – Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) is set to transform its approach to annual giving with the launch of “1ROO for ENMU,” a new university-wide program, going live on Nov. 20, 2025. 1ROO has reimagined the giving process at ENMU by combining targeted financial support with alumni storytelling, enabling donors to direct funds to the specific academic, athletic or community initiatives that align with their personal passions.
The program’s name is inspired by the distinctive “Roo” call that Greyhounds use to connect with their pack. In the ENMU community, a "Roo" represents an individual's personal call to purpose — their passion to help others. It’s a call to action, urging members of the Greyhound community to unite and amplify their impact in the lives of students and the University's future.
1ROO for ENMU channels this spirit, encouraging supporters to unite and contribute to the University’s greatest needs, while also sharing their own stories. Throughout the year, the Office of Annual Giving and Engagement will collect Roo statements and stories to highlight the ways in which the Greyhound pack supports current students.
“I am very excited for the launch of this program,” ENMU System Chancellor, Dr. James Johnston, said in a prior release. “This fund allows divisions and departments of the University to respond to opportunities and to support student success.”
1ROO for ENMU brings individual Roos together to amplify Eastern New Mexico University’s collective commitment to student success.
Those who wish to support 1Roo for ENMU with an annual donation to the area of the University they would like to support can do so through the new online giving platform. Learn more by visiting giving.enmu.edu.
The ENMU community is encouraged to visit enmu.edu/ShareYourRoo to share their unique call to purpose.
