ENMU Hosting Spring Commencement Convocation on May 11

There are 795 candidates for graduation at Eastern New Mexico University's Commencement Convocation on Saturday, May 11, in Greyhound Arena in Portales. Students from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will participate in the first ceremony at 10 a.m. Students from the College of Business, the College of Education and Technology and the College of Fine Arts will be recognized in the second ceremony at 2 p.m.

"I'm delighted to see that we continue to graduate large numbers of our students," said Dr. Jeff Elwell, President of ENMU. "Last year, 1332 students received degrees from us and the total this year will be 26 more. That means 1358 Greyhounds, the most ever in an academic year, will be entering the job market or going on for further education in graduate school. Student success is job number one for ENMU. Graduation is certainly an indicator of success."

The commencement speaker for both ceremonies will be the Honorable Chief Justice Edward Chavez, retired, a former New Mexico Supreme Court Justice.

The event will be broadcasted by KENW-TV on Channel 3-3 and a live stream will be available.

Following each ceremony, Alumni Affairs will host a reception in the south gym for graduates, their families and friends.
