ENMU Business Student Hopes to Open a Family-Operated Restaurant

Isabelle Equia is a junior at Eastern New Mexico University majoring in business administration with an emphasis in hospitality management. With her degree, Isabelle hopes to open a restaurant with her family.

"I hope to satisfy people with our service and food," Isabelle says of her aspirations.

To others in majoring in business, Isabelle advises: "Ask for help and don't be afraid. If you wait too long, you can be in a bind when you get further into your degree."

Isabelle is a member of the Associated Students Activities Board, the sorority Zeta Tau Alpha and the ENMU Business Student Club.

Isabelle, who was born and raised in Clovis, New Mexico, says she chose to attend Eastern because it was "close to home. Plus, my parents came here, and they have said nothing but great things about ENMU. I love that it's a small community. We are like a family, and I love that."

Isabelle shared that Beatriz Villa, American language and culture director, has been a positive mentor to her during her time at ENMU.

Her favorite course has been "Yoga" because it is "relaxing, and it gets me ready for the next day."

In her free time, the Greyhound enjoys doing yoga and walking her dog. Isabelle's mother is a teacher, and her father is employed by the City of Clovis. She has one older brother.
